Saturday Night Battleground on
Abundant TV: Tempers flare, alliances
strain, and the champion can’t catch a
break.
From the moment cameras rolled, Saturday Night Battleground was
chaos in motion. The EPW Champion tried to walk out before the show
even started, tag team partners clashed, and a main event rematch
ended in total destruction. Titles, pride, and tempers were all on the line
as Ephesians Pro Wrestling delivered another night the fans won’t soon
forget.
The Champion Stopped in His Tracks
Before the first match could even begin, EPW General Manager, Mr.
Kyle, confronted Brixton Shaw as he tried to leave the Lordatorium with
the EPW Championship in hand. Shaw claimed he was “going home,”
but Kyle made it clear he was not going anywhere. The GM announced
that Shaw would face Aiden the Dragon in a rematch later that night and
added a new rule: if Shaw wants to continue being the champion, he
must defend it at every show from this point on.
Shaw was not happy about it, insisting he should get to choose his own
opponents, but Kyle was not backing down. The exchange set the tone
for the night and made one thing clear: being champion in EPW just got
a lot harder.
Opening Match: “The Warhawk” Kirk Castle (c) vs.
HBO
The action kicked off with a non-title clash between champions as the
EPW Texas Champion “The Warhawk” Kirk Castle faced one half of the
EPW Tag Team Champions, the Hillbilly Outlaw HBO. Though it was
friendly competition on paper, the energy was anything but. HBO, a
former Texas Champion himself, never lost that title after vacating it to
enter the tag team tournament that made him a champion alongside
Ryan Heart.
Both men traded momentum early, showing off power and speed in
equal measure. Castle used his strength and experience to control the
pace, while HBO reached for his “Bully Juice,” and the crowd roared to
life. Just as Castle prepared to end the match, Langley’s music hit,
stopping him cold. HBO struck fast, hit the Hillbilly Obliterator, and
scored the win.
Langley never appeared, but the message was clear. Castle’s focus is
slipping, and Langley knows exactly how to get under his skin.
“The Tactician” Ryan Heart vs. “Retro” Dewey
Deklin
Backstage, “Retro” Dewey Deklin was approached by HBO before his
match. The two are close friends, but Deklin asked HBO not to come
ringside for his match, saying he did not want distractions while facing
“The Tactician” Ryan Heart.
The match was a physical showcase between longtime rivals. Heart
targeted Deklin’s right hand early, slamming it into the mat and ring
apron to take away his bionic elbow and top-rope finisher. Heart then
went to the top rope, where he took too long to come down on Deklin,
giving him time to recover. Heart slams down onto the mat, and Deklin
took advantage, fighting back now using his left hand, landing the
Windbreaker and a near-fall. But when HBO appeared late in the match
to cheer both men on, his timing backfired. Deklin was just momentarily
distracted, and Heart capitalized with the Heart Attack to take the win.
After the match, Ryan Heart celebrated with his confused partner, while
HBO looked conflicted with what just happened. The Heartbreak
Outlaw’s partnership or possibly HBO’s friendship with Dewey Deklin
may be on shaky ground.
A Referee Under Fire
EPW’s backstage correspondent, Onyx, later interviewed longtime EPW
referee and Hall of Famer “Hoss,” who defended himself against rumors
that he had been taking money from Dustin “The Mogul” Bogle. When
asked directly, Hoss stood firm, saying, “There’s not a camera one out
there in the Lordatorium that can prove I ever took any money.” The
denial leaves the door open for more questions about Bogle’s influence
and whether the corruption rumors run deeper.
Main Event: Aidan The Dragon vs. “Ultra Ego”
Brixton Shaw (c)
In the main event, Aiden the Dragon challenged “Ultra Ego” Brixton
Shaw for the EPW Championship in a fast-paced, hard-hitting battle.
Both men traded control with Aiden using his speed and striking against
the champion’s power and experience.
Late in the match, Brixton rocked Aiden with a running elbow, then lifted
him to the top turnbuckle. After a brief struggle, Brixton caught Aiden
with a sharp kick to the face and hit a massive superplex from the top
rope, leaving both men down in the center of the ring.
Before either could recover, The Prophecy, made up of JT Turner, Sam
Silver, and Kody Grey, charged the ring and attacked Aiden. Brixton
quickly slipped out, grabbed his championship, and escaped while the
beatdown continued. Johnny Lawless was not there, but the attack
clearly had his influence, reigniting his long-standing issues with Aiden.
Aiden won the match by disqualification, but Brixton Shaw remains the
EPW Champion. The night ended with The Prophecy standing over a
battered Aiden as the crowd watched in disbelief.
Looking Ahead
Aiden the Dragon’s championship dreams were ripped away again, and
his feud with Johnny Lawless seems ready to explode. Brixton Shaw
escaped another defense, but with a new rule forcing him to defend the
title every week, are his days as champion numbered?
Ryan Heart’s win came at the cost of trust, leaving questions about
where his partnership with HBO will go from here and where HBO’s
friendship with Dewey Deklin stands.
Kirk Castle’s growing obsession with Langley could cost him focus, and
the referee controversy involving Dustin Bogle and Hoss still hangs over
the locker room.
Even Smith and Wesson, who were told to “take back” their place in
EPW two weeks ago, have yet to make their move. The roster is
restless, and everyone seems one step away from a fight.
With tension rising in every division, the next episode of Saturday Night
Battleground could be the breaking point.
Catch it all next week on Abundant TV.
