BAILEY THOMPSON FINDS BELONGING IN NEW SINGLE “A SEAT FOR YOU”

Myrtle Beach, SC  Emerging Christian artist Bailey Thompson is giving a voice to anyone who has ever felt forgotten, overlooked, or left behind with her new single, “A Seat For You,” available everywhere today through NRT Music.

Bailey ThompsonBorn from a deeply personal season of loneliness, “A Seat For You” began after Thompson discovered that a group of old friends she had originally introduced to one another were still close and spending time together–just without her.

The realization came during an already lonely season and sent Thompson into a familiar spiral of questions.

“Am I the problem? Was it me?”

Those questions became the emotional foundation for “A Seat For You,” a vulnerable Christian pop song that wrestles honestly with rejection while ultimately pointing toward the security and belonging found in Christ.

The song’s title comes from a recurring theme Thompson has experienced throughout her life: the feeling that people, both literally and figuratively, never saved a seat for her at their table.

That imagery comes to life throughout the song as Thompson revisits painful moments of exclusion, from seeing old friends together through social media to remembering the insecurity of being a teenager with nowhere to sit.

“Some days I still feel fifteen / Lunch tray shaking, nowhere to be / While they sit at tables I helped build / Then tell me that my spot was filled,” Thompson sings.

But “A Seat For You” doesn’t remain in that pain. As the song progresses, the question of “Am I the problem?” gives way to a much stronger declaration of identity: “I’m not a problem, I’m redeemed and chosen / Held by grace even if I’m broken.”

At the center of the song is the truth Thompson hopes listeners carry with them long after the final note: people may overlook you, leave you out, or walk away, but God never will.

“When they look past me, You see right through / And You say, ‘I saved a seat for you.'”

“A Seat For You” also arrives as Thompson enters a new season personally, preparing to welcome her first child and openly sharing the journey with followers on social media. For an artist whose music wrestles with belonging, identity, and being seen, the season adds another layer to a song ultimately rooted in knowing where–and to Whom–you belong.

That message is central to Thompson’s emerging ministry as an artist. From the pop-centered feel of “Stuck,” to the worshipful reflection of “Threshing Floor,” to the fun, tongue-in-cheek messaging of “Not For Everyone,” and “Be Careful What You Ask For,” Bailey is continually giving voice to the brokenhearted, hope to the overlooked, and light to those walking through difficult seasons.

A Seat For You” is available now on all major digital music platforms.
