Flowing in the Rhythm of God

If there has ever been a time that we must be attentive to the Spirit of God, it is now. There is so much upheaval in the earth causing heartbreak, division, offense, and hatred. Many have been pulled to the point of walking away from the faith, while others are drawing closer. It’s a time of rebirth and transition. Yes, that famous word you have been hearing everywhere now — TRANSITION!
Many may say, “I haven’t felt God change a thing.” That’s because when God is getting ready to do something major, He will often ask His people to be still. We can acknowledge this as truth because, as believers, we are sometimes affected by dry seasons, not hearing Him clearly, or even feeling as though He has forsaken us. It is in those times that we can rest assured God is doing things behind the scenes. It’s His whisper we can catch — just enough to spur us on into the glory.
If you know God, you know He is faithful, but He is also strategic. God needs His people ready, malleable, softened with humility, open, and tenderhearted. He needs us to be so pliable that if we are ripped apart, He will put us back together. If we are stripped, He will add more to us. If we are empty, He will fill us.
When God is doing a new thing to bring us into more of His Kingdom mindset, He will start with our hearts. He doesn’t need much — just a surrendered “yes,” a listening ear, and an eager heart.
Some of you may have been waiting for that motivational push, that Rhema word, or the simple encouragement from the love of the Father. You may not receive it right away like you want, but our God is always timely. He is creating a new song within us.
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”
— Zephaniah 3:17
We are a people designed to move in a healthy spiritual pattern rather than chaos, striving, or constant exhaustion. What I observe is that our society has become such a striving, work-hard, sleepless-night, high-caffeine, fast-moving culture that we fail to slow down, rest, and listen.
God is moving us out of this mentality. He is calling us into rest instead of a heavy workload. He is asking for our silence so we can hear Him. Physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, He is asking us to pay attention to our personal lives and find ways to simply rest in Him.
When we rest, we hear Him. We follow Him. We trust Him.
For instance, we can see this by how many people are getting sick and how diagnoses for autoimmune disorders have skyrocketed. Mental illness and trauma have been highlighted, not because they are some new hot topic, but because they have gone rampant, and our nervous systems can only take so much.
We cannot force outcomes. In many ways, we have almost been through combat with what we had to endure during the COVID season. We are no good in burnout. It is crucial for us to become more attentive to what is happening within us.
Why would God be asking us to rest? Because God wants relationship. He wants to spend time with us, just as we desire fellowship with others. We are designed in His image. We must draw closer now more than ever. God loves our praise and worship. We must abide before we produce fruit.
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28–30
People are searching for new ways to heal themselves, find a higher power, or pursue “energy,” simply because they do not know God and His Spirit. They do not flow in His rhythm.
God wants us to be fully aware of how He designed us and what we can handle. He is requiring us to take greater consideration of our personal health and well-being in every area. When you can agree with doing this, you will recognize that you are following what the Spirit is speaking. Otherwise, this can become a barrier that keeps you from flowing with the Spirit.
We are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
1 Corinthians 6:19–20
His rhythm makes us one with Him — living in harmony with God’s pace and guidance.
