A New Day for Christian Schooling: Christian Education Network (CEN) Launches Scholarship Granting Organization in Preparation for New Federal Tax Credit

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Christian Education Network (CEN) has officially launched the Christian Education Network Scholarship Granting Organization (CEN SGO), which will allow Americans across the country to turn their tax dollars into scholarships that help students access and afford Christian schooling.

Made possible by the Education Freedom Tax Credit signed into law in 2025 by President Donald Trump in his “One Big Beautiful Bill,” starting in January 2027, every individual who donates $1,700 to CEN SGO will be eligible for a dollar-for-dollar tax credit off their federal income taxes. CEN SGO will then award scholarships to students to help them afford a Christian education.

“This is a defining moment for Christian education in America,” said Aaron Baer, founder of the Christian Education Network and president of Center for Christian Virtue. “For the first time, families can take money they already owe to the federal government and redirect it into scholarships that fund a Christ-centered education.”

While individuals from every state in the nation can make donations to CEN SGO, only schools in states that “opt into” the program can receive scholarships. To date, 29 states have opted in.

The Christian Education Network leads a Scholarship Granting Organization in Ohio, serving thousands of families and more than 100 Christian schools. The Ohio program has made Christian schooling affordable to countless families who would never have been able to access a Christ-centered education without the tax credit.

“The new Federal School Choice Tax Credit presents the greatest evangelism opportunity in our lifetime,” said Baer. “CEN SGO is going to be coming alongside Christian schools across the country to help them maximize this historic opportunity to bless more kids and families than ever before.”

“Families are searching for both excellence and Biblical values in education, so this program creates a critical pathway forward,” Troy McIntosh, Executive Director of the Christian Education Network. “It gives parents and grandparents a choice they may not have thought possible, and provides Christ-centered schools with new financial resources. And we want every school administrator to have an advocate and a guide in this process. That’s what CEN is here for.”
