Truth & Liberty Foundation says alleged Texas voter registration scheme shows urgent need for nationwide election integrity reforms

‘The right to vote is sacred and must be protected. Illegal votes and ballots by anyone undermine that right for all American citizens’

WOODLAND PARK, Colo. — Truth & Liberty Foundation today praised Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s new lawsuit against the JOLT Initiative, Inc., as a critical step toward protecting the integrity of U.S. elections and is urging lawmakers across the country to enact comprehensive election integrity reforms.

Texas Attorney General Ken PaxtonIn a quo warranto action filed in a Texas state court, Paxton accuses JOLT of orchestrating a deliberate scheme to unlawfully register illegal immigrants to vote. The suit seeks the dissolution of JOLT’s corporate charter, forfeiture of its privileges and recovery of legal costs for the state. The case is the latest in what Paxton describes as his ongoing campaign against election manipulation by left-wing groups.

“The left constantly tries to cheat and rig elections because they know they can’t win honestly,” Paxton declared in a statement. “Any organization attempting to register illegals, who are all criminals, must be completely crushed and shut down immediately. JOLT is a radical, partisan operation that has, and continues to, knowingly attempt to corrupt our voter rolls and weaken the voice of lawful Texas voters. I will make sure they face the full force of the law.”

According to Paxton’s office, the lawsuit follows an investigation that found what it describes as systematic violations of the Texas Election Code by JOLT and its operatives, including trained Volunteer Deputy Registrars stationed outside Texas Department of Motor Vehicles locations. The lawsuit alleges that JOLT’s registration efforts encouraged individuals — potentially including those without proper identification or U.S. citizenship — to submit voter applications containing false statements about eligibility, citizenship and ID requirements, in violation of Texas Election Code sections 13.002 and 13.007.

Truth & Liberty Foundation Executive Director Richard Harris said the claims in Paxton’s lawsuit should alarm every American who cares about fair elections, regardless of party.

“The allegations in Attorney General Paxton’s lawsuit, if true, are a prime example of exactly why we need comprehensive election integrity reform in America,” Harris said. “The right to vote is sacred and must be protected. Illegal votes and ballots by anyone undermine that right for all American citizens.”

Harris said Truth & Liberty Foundation supports a package of “common-sense, nonpartisan reforms” that he believes would prevent abuses like those alleged in the Texas case.

“Every legal voter, whether Democrat, Republican or independent, should want secure, transparent elections,” Harris said. “Reasonable steps like mandatory voter roll clean-up, no automatic voter registration, strong voter ID laws, same-day in-person voting and sharply limiting or eliminating mail-in ballot schemes would go a long way toward restoring public confidence.”

Harris warned that controversies such as the Paxton–JOLT case further erode trust in democratic institutions at a time when Americans are already deeply divided.

“When people believe elections are being manipulated, they begin to lose faith not only in the process but also in the government that process creates,” Harris said. “If organizations are knowingly helping ineligible people register and vote, they are disenfranchising lawful citizens and striking at the heart of our constitutional republic.”

The lawsuit against JOLT, filed in state court, seeks to bar the organization from continuing its work in Texas if the allegations are proven. According to the complaint, JOLT’s activities allegedly included providing instructions that misrepresented state law, misled applicants about identification requirements, and encouraged false self-certification of eligibility.

Harris said cases like this underscore why churches and Christian voters must stay informed and engaged on issues of election integrity.

“Christians have a responsibility to be salt and light in every area of culture, including government,” he said. “That means standing up for honest, transparent elections where every lawful citizen can vote once — and only once — and where illegal ballots are never allowed to cancel out the voices of law-abiding Americans.”

Truth & Liberty Foundation is urging citizens to educate themselves on their states’ election laws, support reforms that promote secure and verifiable voting, and pray for leaders who are committed to upholding the rule of law.

“However the courts ultimately rule in this case, the underlying issue is not going away,” Harris said. “America needs robust, nationwide election integrity measures so that every citizen can trust the outcome, win or lose. That is essential to preserving our God-given freedoms and our constitutional republic.”
