Trusting God’s Plan: Jabez, Jericho, and Living Abundantly
Season 2 of The Abundant Show has been filled with powerful conversations about faith, encouragement, and living in the fullness of God’s promises. In Episode 7, Rob Patz and Kristen Stanton invite you to journey with them through two remarkable biblical stories—Jabez and the Battle of Jericho—that reveal the impact of faith, prayer, and trusting God even in life’s valleys.
The Prayer of Jabez: Asking Boldly
The story of Jabez, found in 1 Chronicles 4:9–10, reminds us that God listens when His people cry out to Him in faith. Jabez, though labeled by pain at birth, believed that God could rewrite his future. He prayed a simple yet powerful prayer: that God would bless him, enlarge his territory, and keep him from harm.
Rob and Kristen explore how this prayer isn’t just a request for personal blessing, but an example of bold faith. Jabez teaches us that when we approach God with trust and humility, He can expand our influence, guide our steps, and protect us from the enemy’s snares. It’s a reminder that our past doesn’t define our future—God does.
The Battle of Jericho: Trusting God’s Strategy
The story of Jericho in Joshua 6 is one of the most well-known accounts of faith and obedience in the Old Testament. Joshua was called to lead Israel into the Promised Land, but the city of Jericho stood in the way. From a human perspective, the battle plan made no sense—marching silently around the walls for seven days before shouting in victory.
And yet, Joshua obeyed. The walls of Jericho fell, not because of military might, but because of God’s power and the obedience of His people.
Rob and Kristen draw parallels between Joshua’s leadership and our own walk of faith today. Sometimes God’s plans don’t make sense to us. Sometimes He asks us to wait, to trust, and to move forward in ways that seem unconventional. But as Joshua and the Israelites learned, obedience leads to breakthrough.
Faith in the Valleys
Life is not lived only on the mountaintops. There are seasons of valleys—times of waiting, uncertainty, or even discouragement. In this episode, The Abundant Show encourages viewers to hold on to God’s promises even when the outcome seems uncertain. Just as Jabez trusted God for a future beyond pain, and Joshua trusted God for victory against impossible odds, we too can trust Him in our valleys.
Rob and Kristen remind us that God’s plan is always for our good, even when we cannot see the full picture. Prayer connects us to His wisdom and guidance, helping us navigate the twists and turns of life with confidence.
Embracing the Abundant Life
At the heart of this episode is the message of living abundantly. Abundance is not merely material wealth—it is joy, peace, purpose, and a life rooted in God’s promises. When we pray boldly like Jabez, obey faithfully like Joshua, and trust God in every season, we begin to experience the abundant life Jesus promised in John 10:10:
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
