Faith + Entrepreneurship: Why You Can’t Separate the Two

Faith + Entrepreneurship: Why You Can’t Separate the Two

As someone who follows Jesus and walks the entrepreneurial journey, I’ve learned that there is no way to separate the two. Faith is not just a Sunday activity or something you need when you want something, it is the foundation that holds up every part of your business.

Molly Trotter - GomezThink about the deep faith it takes just to start a business. To step out of the security of a paycheck and risk building something from scratch requires courage that goes way beyond yourself. It takes a deep conviction that you’ve been called to do more. That the gifts and talents God placed inside you are meant to serve others in a big way.

Then there’s the firm faith it takes to create an offer, put it out into the world, and believe in its value, even when it’s met with silence that can feel like rejection. Anyone who has built a business knows that it can take dozens or even hundreds of “no’s” before you get that first “yes.” Each “no” feels like rejection that also feels like a blow, but firm faith reminds you that your worth is not tied to someone else’s response. You keep showing up, knowing that eventually the right people will say yes because you are aligned with what God has called you to create.

But the journey doesn’t stop there. Entrepreneurship is rarely a straight line. Sometimes the business you start isn’t the one you’re meant to stay in. It takes unwavering faith to pivot, to start again, and to recognize that what felt like a failure was actually a training ground. What you learned there gets to carry with you into the next phase. Every step forward, even the hard ones, shapes you into the leader God is preparing you to be. The unwavering faith says: I won’t quit, because I know this is what I was made to do. You don’t stop until the overflow, of impact, influence, and provision, becomes evident.

Of course, faith in business isn’t only about pushing through the external challenges. It’s also about standing strong in the face of spiritual warfare. The truth is, your anointing attracts opposition a.k.a warfare. When you choose to step into Kingdom work, the enemy takes notice and is now on high alert. It takes resilient faith to withstand the attacks, the discouragement, and the spiritual battles that come with walking in your calling. But resilient faith knows that no weapon formed against you will prosper, because God has already gone before you. Can I get an amen?!

And then there’s the hardest kind of faith, the steadfast faith that waits on God’s timing. His promises are true, but they rarely unfold on our timeline. The business breakthrough, the financial overflow, the influence you’ve been praying for will most likely not arrive when you want it to. Steadfast faith requires surrender. It means laying down your will and aligning with His will. Trusting that His ways are higher, His timing is perfect, and His plan is always for your good. The last thing you want is to have the promise slip through your fingers because you weren’t ready to hold it.

Deep, firm, unwavering, resilient, and steadfast .. these aren’t words you can just will yourself into. They are built, strengthened, and refined in the secret place. That place is your special space for just you and God. Your best weapon as an entrepreneur isn’t a new marketing strategy or a productivity hack, it’s the time you spend in uninterrupted presence with Him. Listening. Waiting. Leaning into His still, small whispers.

And it only takes one whisper. One word from Him can change the entire trajectory of your life and business. One whisper can give you the courage to launch, the clarity to pivot, or the peace to wait.

That’s why your faith and your business can never be separated. They are not two different compartments of who you are. They are both expressions of your identity in Christ. Jesus wants to be part of all of it. Your wins, your losses, your strategy, your goals, your day-to-day decisions. He’s not asking you to invite Him into just your Sunday mornings. He’s asking you to invite Him into your meetings, your sales calls, your content planning, and your vision casting. ALL of it.

Here’s the truth: He chose you. Out of all the people in the world, He trusted you to carry out the vision He placed in your heart. Not because you’re perfect or have it all figured out, but because He knows that with Him, you are capable of more than you could ever imagine.

So trust that. Lean in. Spend time in His presence and listen to His whispers today. Because when you combine bold, obedient faith with the gifts He has given you, your business won’t just grow, it will tell a God-sized story that brings Him glory.
